The Drive G36 represents the next generation of gravel wheels. It features a reduced hook design, offering the benefits of a hookless wheelset with the security of a clincher. New advancements in carbon fiber layup have made it possible for us to design the wheelset to not only be stronger than those of the last generation but also lighter at just 1325 grams for the pair.
The G36 is also the first to feature our high- engagement ratchet hub, which includes TPI Steel bearings. Taking things further, the wheelset is made with race-ready Sapim CX-Ray spokes.

WIDER RIMS

The Drive G36 features a wider 25mm internal rim width, that allows you to run wider, 700*30c-50c tires, giving you more traction and confidence when riding. This flexibility allows for both road riding and trail riding. Advancements in carbon fiber layup have made it possible to reduce weight while further improving impact resistance.

The rims use an ETRTO-compliant reduced hook design that gives the benefits of a hookless rim, without sacrificing safety at higher tire pressures. The reduced hook design increases durability, creates a better tire contact patch for improved grip and stability, reduces weight, and improves aerodynamics due to an enhanced tire-to-rim interface.

RATCHET HUBS

The Drive G36’s features our new Kinetic hub, which contains two high engagement 50T(7.2°) star ratchets machined into a conical shape, which allows for a increase in surface area. This leads to increased longevity and durability, as torque can be distributed over a larger area. The Kinetic hub also makes use of a stronger spring, which reduces skipping and slipping under load.

The front and rear hubs both make use of hybrid Steel TPI bearings, which offer performance gains in rolling resistance, saving you precious watts. We machine our own high-precision hubs in-house with Fanuc CNC machines to tolerances of just 0.02mm, improving longevity. The hubs also feature waterproof seals to eliminate ingress, preventing bearing contamination.

RACE-READY SPOKES

Sapim CX-Ray, spokes are known for being lightweight and durable, making them the favorite of pro riders. We take precautions to ensure that spoke windup is minimized so wheels don’t go out of true. After the initial truing, the wheel is sideloaded. This process is repeated again. The wheels are sideloaded a total of 16 times. We see this as an essential quality control standard. As a result, our wheels are guaranteed to stay within 0.2mm of true.

DURABILITY

At Elitewheels, we do all of our own testing. During the development phase, each wheelset undergoes more than 20 tests. The Drive G36 has flawlessly passed our 20,000km rough surface factory/laboratory tests which simulate gravel riding conditions, far exceeding the en 17406 test standard.

In our maximum vertical impact test, the G36 passed, making it 2.7x stronger than UCI’s standard, giving you peace of mind when riding in rough terrain.
